In Debra Ullrick's book, Forewarned, Jackson Warren is a man in a relationship with God first, and second, one who wants to be in a romantic relationship with his best friend and girl of his dreams, Jasmine Moore. However, Jasmine does not see Jack in the same way, is not aware of his deep love for her, nor aware of her love for him as a man. Because she is housebound and recovering from an accident, she is somewhat bored, feeling smothered by her well-wishing friends and family members, dislikes the cold temperatures where she lives, and is looking for a diversion. Thus, she seeks out a relationship with a man through Cyberspace - the result of a chance Internet meeting.
This book is a combination of suspense and love, part thriller and part romance, is full of intrigue and will keep your attention on high alert. There is a strong message throughout the story emphasizing our need to listen to our inner promptings and warnings, the still small voice of God, and the advice of friends and family. Jasmine insists on living her life without constant dependence on others - especially Jack and her sisters - and has a stubborn streak which ultimately ends up haunting her.
I found the plot to be fascinating, and needless to say, I was hooked from the first sentence and held captive to the last page. Debra writes about unforgettable characters who draw you in to their complex lives so you can experience right along with them what they're going through day by day. Her descriptive writing brings you directly into every scene where you'll experience emotions and encounters right along with her interesting cast of characters. You may find yourself praying for them and cheering with them, and you might even want to reach right through the pages and strangle a couple of them!
This was a fun, suspense-filled book, and I'm glad I took the time to read it. Debra is a great writer and reading her books is a rewarding experience.
